Dark Knight - Non Spoiler "general " review.

Saw the movie yesterday morning and its everything the hype machine has promised. An epic Crime drama which just happen's to have a guy dressesd in a bat suit

The first thing i will say is that if you think you know what happens in the movie due to trhe various trailers - You DONT! If you think this movie is about Batman Vs The Joker - then your wrong. This is the story about the rise and fall of another character.

Ok trying to keep this spoiler free.... The JOKER is the JOKER - Heath Ledger is not in the movie - there is only the JOKER not at one stage did i think thats heath Ledger. The Joker is twisted manic who incrediably smart and sadistically evil. If he says he is going to blow up a builing with people in it he blows that building up. Forget JacK Nicolson played for laughs Joker - this is the JOKER a person who when he laughs is the only one of the room laughing as the rest of the room is terrified. Good example is the disaperaing pencil trick which when you watch the movie you will see what i mean.

Christian Bale once again is an excellent Bruce Wayne / Batman. Perfect at relflecting the inner termoil of bruce wayne as he tries to figure out if batman is needed or he can carry on doing this job he has taken apon himself to do. This film pushs Bats to the limits in terms of what he is capble of doing and were his line of Justice is. and this is one of the main themes running through the movie. will Batman sense of justice and up holding the law fail when he is forced again an adversery that has no rules or logic and moral sense of what is right or wrong. How far is Bats willing to go and what will he become if he breaks his own moral codes to stop the Joker.

Like i said earlier the Joker is andunstoppable force but this is not his film nor is its bats, the is the story of the rise and fall of Harvey Dent. The white Knight of Gotham who even Bruce belives may be the person who can take over the mantle of Gothams protector allowing him to finally hang up the Bat suit. And his tragic fall from grace.

The supporting actors once again are outstanding esp gary oldman as lt Gordon. He gets a lot more to in this film and is strong back bone to Bats when everyone else is out to get him. Michael Cane also is perfect for the Role of alfred and a bit more of his back ground is explained in the movie.

I cant really say to much more with out giving away specific spoilers about charatcer and plot. What i will say is by the end of the movie no character comes away un scathed, and it will be very interesting to see how they handle the thrid movie - this is the Empire Strikes Back of the series and possibly the greatest ever comic book movie ever made.
